Ose Shrine's ``Ose Festival'' is a grand festival that prays for a bountiful catch and safety at sea.
April 4th is the day when the deity enshrined at Ose Shrine was subdued (his birthday in human terms), and the annual festival is held on this day every year.

This is a traditional festival that has been going on since the Meiji era, and since the enshrined deity of Ose Shrine, Hikitte Chikara no Mikoto, is a male deity, fishermen and local young men dress up as women and worship at this festival.
*This custom is said to have arisen because women were not allowed to board ships.

The sight of people performing the ``Yu Odori'' dance while making a pilgrimage to the shrine is somewhat humorous and exhilarating for spring.
On the day of the event, pork soup and grilled dried fish will be sold along the beach from around 8:00 a.m.
